An initial promising option for utilizing these materials is currently being established along the processing route using nonwoven-forming processes.
In order to optimally exploit the high technological potential, it is essential to link the requirement profile of future fields of application of a renewed product life cycle with the performance levels of the nonwovens.
Broader range of services thanks to innovative multi-material approach
The "CaRMA" research project made use of the intrinsically high number of material parameters within a technical nonwoven. In an innovative multi-material approach, recycled carbon fibers were mixed with additional structural or functional fiber components (e.g. natural, glass and aramid fibers). This considerably broadens the possible performance spectrum of the new materials.
As a result, additional fields of application can potentially be opened up. Optimized application-specific material variants can then be developed for the new fields of application using the selected approach.
The far-reaching utilization potential thus favors the ecologically sensible and at the same time economically viable use of material resources in this high-tech environment.
