Reference projects

The MULTISURV research project investigated methods of process monitoring in multi-material processing in collaboration with the Augsburg Multi-Material Center. Examples of this are powder bed monitoring and quality control of solidified coatings, both using active thermography. Another area is the spectroscopic analysis of process emissions.

Additive manufacturing makes it possible to produce components with complex geometries. However, due to the flexibility in production, the cleaning of the sometimes very delicate parts is also becoming increasingly complex, which is why conventional component cleaning methods are not sufficient and could damage the components.The MULTIREIN project focused on the component-specific cleaning of additively manufactured parts in several steps.

In order to increase resource efficiency along the entire process chain in production technology, a demand-oriented design of cleaning processes is essential. Together with its partners, Fraunhofer IGCV has developed quality-appropriate cleaning processes in order to contribute to sustainability by remanufacturing old parts.

As part of the project, a multi-sensor system is being developed that will enable the measured variables of the ultrasonic bath to be better recorded and reliable forecasts for future cleaning processes to be made.
